PRECINCT 3 J.P. KEN TOFEL RETIRES

Washington County’s Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3 has retired.

Ken Tofel

Ken Tofel’s last day in office was June 4th, according to County Judge John Durrenberger, who spoke on the matter at today’s (Tuesday) meeting of the commissioners court.

Tofel was first elected as Justice of the Peace in November 2014.  Prior to that, he served as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps for 22 years.  He also established the nationally recognized Marine Corps Junior ROTC program at Brenham High School.

Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Douglas Cone has been appointed to serve in the Precinct 3 position as a temporary replacement, in addition to his regular duties.  Commissioners approved temporary supplemental payment to Cone from the department budget of the Precinct 3 office.

The seats of all four Justice of the Peace positions are up for election in 2022.
