ROYERS OPENS NEW RESTAURANT IN DOWNTOWN BRENHAM

A family-owned restaurant with deep ties in the area now has a new location in downtown Brenham.

Royers Alamo Kitchen is open for business at 302 East Alamo Street, right next to the 4-Star Concert Hall and Sports Bar. The new restaurant officially opened on August 22nd.

The original Royers location in Round Top was founded in 1987 by Bud “The Pie Man” Royer. About three and a half years ago, he sold it to his son, Jonathan “J.B.” Royer, and his wife, Jamie-Len Royer.

Jamie-Len Royer said the owner of the 4-Star Concert Hall soon reached out to them about setting up shop next door.

Royers Alamo Kitchen Co-owner Jonathan "JB" Royer (left) chats with a customer at the counter.

J.B. Royer said business has been very good in Brenham, and continues to do well in Round Top. He said it would be great to expand further at some point in the future, but he and Jamie-Len are going to stay put for now.

The Royers said the location in Brenham is noticeably different from Royers Round Top Café, which is designed as more of a traditional restaurant compared to Brenham’s counter-service concept.

The two said they learned a lot from “The Pie Man”, including how the restaurant business is not about the money, but rather, the community, and the relationships made along the way.

Royers Alamo Kitchen is open Monday through Wednesday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Thursday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. It also serves food at the 4-Star Sports Bar on Sundays, from noon to 3 p.m.
