SALES TAX REBATES UP IN JUNE FOR WASHINGTON CO. & BRENHAM, DOWN FOR BURTON

  

The month of June once again showed notable increases in sales and tax distributions for local entities, but only for Brenham and Washington County.

The county’s rebate this month was $287,873, a 25.7 percent jump from a payment of $229,001 last June.  So far in 2021, the county has received $1,655,288, up 11.95 percent when compared to last year’s payment-to-date of $1,478,515.

The City of Brenham received $676,975 in June, 24.92 percent up from when it received $541,895 last June.  The city’s receipts through June 2021 total $3,773,947, up 11.91 percent from a year ago, when the city had received $3,372,031.

Burton’s rebate was down 25.76 percent, receiving $6,898 this month in comparison to $9,293 last June.  So far this year, the city has received $43,486, down 1.6 percent from the $44,196 it received through this point last year.

Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported that, for the month of June, the state paid out $907.6 million in local sales tax allocations, up 31.5 percent from last June and up 9.4 percent for the year at this time.
