TWO WOMEN SEEN LEAVING BLUEBONNET HAVEN FACILITY FOUND BY POLICE

A pair of individuals who left the site of the Bluebonnet Haven youth treatment facility just outside of Brenham Thursday have been recovered.

Reports came in shortly after 5:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon of the two women running through traffic across Highway 36.  Eyewitness reports say they were headed toward the Brenham State Supported Living Center.

According to Brenham Police Lieutenant Kelvin Raven, the two were recovered.  One was confirmed to be a juvenile, who was arrested for an undisclosed felony charge.  The other was escorted back by Bluebonnet Haven staff to the facility.

Police were unable to provide information on where the two were located or the nature of their departure from the facility.  Lt. Raven said more information would be available when a report is completed by Monday.

  1. This is my second post on this subject, as I have thought about this, one of these “residents” was arrested for an undisclosed felony, do they not background check the people they let into this facility before bringing them to Washington County/Brenham? Secondly, do they not have any security that will protect their residents as well as the public? Both measures seem to be the prudent thing to do. Had one of these “residents” been hit by a car as they ran across Highway 36, what kind of legal risk would the innocent driver be faced with by accidently injuring or killing one of these “residents”. What if they actually made it to the BSSLC and injured or hurt a patient of staff member?

This facility is putting the citizens of our area at risk and apparently failing to safeguard their own residents. In the meantime, the taxpayers of Washington County are on the hook for all measure of services including educating these residents. Something needs to be done before a really bad incident occurs! I call on the administration of this facility to make a public statement and address these issues!

  2. Someone be sure and send this news story link to our state representative and Senator. Very little regulation on these facilities, designed that way for maximum profits. And we all know who gets some of those profits.

  3. And so it begins, Austin county is finally free of their issues with a facility like this and we are beginning our journey that will likely not end well. Can anyone say, “I told you so”! Very Sad that so many people were right about what would happen and it is already coming true.

  4. Already getting out. Guess the county needs to give them some cameras or but the portable surveillance trailer to use

    1. The county and city need to give them one thing. That’s a new and steep prorated tax every time EMS, the sheriffs dept, the city police, the ISD or any gov service is accessed.
