FUNERAL SERVICES FOR WALLER CO. SHERIFF WILL BE WEDNESDAY
Funeral services will be held Wednesday for long-time Waller County Sheriff Glenn Smith, who died unexpectedly, Saturday, following a heart attack.
Smith was pronounced dead at a Bellville hospital Saturday afternoon.
The services will be held this Wednesday, at 11 a.m., at the Community of Faith Church in Houston, followed by a private ceremony, Thursday, at the Hemphill Cemetery in Hemphill.
Smith was with the Waller County Sheriff's Department for nearly 12 years, and was in his third term as a sheriff. He was a veteran law enforcement officer for more than 40 years.
Smith lost his bid for re-election in a July runoff against former Harris County deputy Troy Guidry. Guidry will face Cedric Watson in November.
Waller County Judge Trey Duhon has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff for 30 days in Smith’s honor.
