BRENHAM FIRE DEPARTMENT CALLED TO TRUCK FIRE ON 36 NORTH

  

The Brenham Fire Department was dispatched to a vehicle fire on the Highway 36 loop on the north side of Brenham at 4:40 PM Friday.  The rear axle of large truck carrying a roll-off container was on fire near the intersection with Dixie Street.  The bearings in the rear axle had overheated catching the tandem axle on fire.  Firemen extinguished the fire and checked for any signs of fire in the roll-off container.  Traffic in both directions on the Highway 36 loop was stopped for about 30 minutes while the firemen extinguished the fire.  There were no reported injuries.
