BRENHAM NATIVE NAME NTJCAC PLAYER OF THE YEAR

A former Brenham softball player has been named Player of the Year in her freshman season of college play.

Madilyn Weatherly, a freshman at Temple Junior College, has been named Player of the Year in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference.

Weatherly, the Leopards’ starting first baseman, has hit .484 this season with 14 doubles, seven home runs, 24 runs scored and 32 runs batted in.

Weatherly was an All-District infielder with the Brenham Cubettes in her senior season (2017), as she hit .330 with four home runs, 18 runs scored and 27 runs batted in.

Temple is 39-6 on the season and finished first in the NTJCAC with a 28-4 mark.

The Leopards are the #1 seed headed into the Region V Tournament, Friday in Lubbock.
