Junior Queen Caroline Adele Kenjura and Junior King Tyler Henry Hopkins reigned over the court of “Up, Up and Away: Across the USA”.

The ceremony took the audience on a hot air balloon trip to experience everything America has to offer, from Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, Hawaii and New York, to the southern hospitality of states like Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana, to the comfort of home in Brenham.

The festival at Fireman's Park treated guests to German food and music, beer tasting, carnival games and rides, dancing, and a parade through downtown on Saturday.  The Senior Maifest coronation on Friday, themed “Viva Las Maifest”, put on display the allure and excitement of the Las Vegas Strip.

  1. This year’s Maifest was a wonderful treat for all who came to celebrate our town! Both coronations were well planned and many families and volunteers spent countless hours coordinating, planning, and decorating so that everyone in Brenham could come out to a family friendly venue and enjoy the culture and heritage of our German ancestors who began Maifest oh so many years ago. Thank you to all of the families who made this event possible and to the countless children entering the Maifest, members of the Maifest Association, and volunteers who work tirelessly to make Maifest magical every year. Without them, we would no longer have a Maifest celebration.

I highly encourage anyone who disapproves of how things are done to take some time and volunteer to be on one of the countless committees who work to make Maifest magical year after year for the people of our town, which includes EVERYONE. Your time, effort, and input is better spent positively that way instead of shaming all of those who volunteered and gave their very best for our town.

  2. Gone are the days ! The days of the German heritage Brenham’s Maifest are gone forever. Brown Sugar headlining Saturday night festivities at ’24 Brenham Maifest. What was the Manifest committee thinking ? I’ll tell you, WOKE !!! I have nothing against Brown Sugar, good band at Hot Nights and Cool Tunes just not appropriate for the Maifest…….

    1. If it were about the German heritage, you’d have food trucks with German food instead of quesadillas and Asian. Admit it: Maifest isn’t for everyone, and take that any way you want.

      1. For the record there was a German food truck, Schnitzel It! I had a brat that was way overcooked but the pretzel was top notch. Sounds like you didn’t even go to Maifest, just another complainer on the internet.

    2. Well now, what you say, BOB! The Maifest committee is thinking WOKE!!! Bob, it appears you want to use the term WOKE as a pejorative term for association with Black people and progressive issues. If that is the case, the Maifest committee is not WOKE!!! The following comments are attributed to the great American author (Mark Twain) of English and Scots-Irish descent, “It’s easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.
Bob, wake up and continue to love and support all the wonderful people and events that Brenham has to offer.
