FAYETTE CO. DEPUTY ASSISTS DPS IN DRUG BUST

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Canine Unit assisted DPS Trooper Brennan Leslie with a marijuana bust.

According to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek, Trooper Leslie stopped a 2008 Buick Enclave on IH-10 near Engle for a traffic violation. The driver told the trooper he was traveling from Zapata to Houston to look for employment.

Trooper Leslie became suspicious while speaking to the driver of the vehicle and Deputy Randy Thumann and his partner Lobos, and Trooper Patrick Mladenka arrived to assist in a consensual vehicle search.

After the vehicle was searched, Trooper Leslie located approximately 110 pounds of marijuana inside four sealed 5 gallon buckets of oil.

Forty-two year old Gilberto Luera Jr. from Roma was arrested and taken to the Fayette County jail.

Justice of the Peace in Precinct One Scott Parker set Luera’s bond at $50,000.
