MISSION BRENHAM ISSUES STATEMENT ON INVESTIGATION

Leaders of Mission Brenham have responded to allegations they misappropriated funds.

The faith-based organization hosts a number of youth programs. Some faced closure when the investigation began in May.

Monday the organization’s board of directors issued a statement, addressing the investigation.

The statement reads that "The current Board of Directors of Mission Brenham has been working around the clock for the past two weeks after being dealt a devastating financial blow.”

The statement goes on to say, Mission Brenham’s Board of Directors is focusing on dealing with the current financial crisis.

Hope Batchman, President of the Mission Brenham Board of Directors says they have been advised, “not to disclose information during what has become an ongoing criminal investigation.”

Batchman goes on to say the organization’s priority has been, “to make sure that JAM 2017 could and would still happen this summer.”

Last week, the case was handed over to the State Attorney General's office.

  1. This is basically the same statement you reported on May 22. Nothing new here. I hope this gets sorted out, the community deserves an answer.

  2. Sad to hear about this considering the overall effectiveness this organization has had and will continue to have if it pleases the ultimate authority. Understandibly there is a criminal investigation underway and its prudent not to comment; however, I strongly encourage people to question local organizations that title themselves as ‘Missions’ of some sort or another. After all, it is donations from the people in our community that provides the funding for these missions and people have a right to know if their funds are being used to advance Gods purpose or to advance the desires and wishes of people who operate these missions. For example, if a mission houses the homeless, then we should rightfully expect local people who are down on their luck to receive shelter. If they don’t then we should rightfully question that organization.
As for Mission Brenham, I think it profound that despite this unexpected attack on their finances, they are working so desperately to provide a youth event that was promised to some local children. The motive of the vast majority of officers at Mission Brenham is to fulfill Gods purpose despite whats happening in any criminal matter. That’s wonderful and I applaud them.
