“SUPER SLICK” OIL SPILL ON HIGHWAY 36 SOUTH
Crews from the Texas Department of Transportation came to the scene of an oil leak onto highway 36 early this (Monday) morning.
Reports from communications say an 18-wheel tractor trailer began leaking the oil at about six in the morning, in the area of the K and M Grocery. The oil then spread across two lanes of the highway.
TxDot has closed the southbound lanes of highway 36. City Fire Chief Ricky Boeker says the oil is ‘super slick.’
Boeker says they are contacting the trucking company so they can send a HAZMAT team out to help cleanup the oil. Boeker says driving on 36 is a driving hazard but there should not be any long term health hazards.
