WASHINGTON COUNTY JUDGE JOHN BRIEDEN COMPLAINS ABOUT COMPLAINT PROCEDURES
Washington County Judge John Brieden has some complaints about the establishment of a complaint procedure.
Judge Brieden says the county needs a $277,000 grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture to establish sewer lines in the Alois Lane area but because much of the money is from the federal government, the county needs to establish a Citizen Complaint Procedure for citizens who have complaints about the project or its progress. . When the Washington County Commissioners meet Tuesday at the courthouse they are expected to establish the complaint procedures. Judge Brieden says this just an example of unnecessary federal bureaucratic procedures. He said further that if anyone had any problem with this or any other project they could simply call him.
The block grant came to the county in February after applying for it every two years for ten years. The affected area is mostly rental property that is just outside the sewer service area of the city of Brenham and cannot accept any more septic systems. The County Commissioners have worked out an engineering agreement with Jones and Carter and a management contract for the project.
The Washington County Commissioners will meet Tuesday morning at nine at the courthouse.
