AUSTIN COUNTY CAR BURGLARIES ON THE RISE

  

Residents of Austin County are being cautioned to be watchful of their vehicles parked in their driveways.

Sheriff Jack Brandes is making residents aware of a series of car burglaries occurring in the north end of the county

Thieves are preying on vehicles being left with doors unlocked.

These individuals come onto the property, open the car doors, and rifle through the contents looking for anything of value.

Sheriff Brandes says that if you keep any firearms in your vehicle to make sure they are secured behind locked doors or in a gun safe, especially if you have children around.

If anyone sees anything at all suspicious, call the Austin County Sheriff’s office, who says they would rather check out a false alarm report than a report of stolen property.
