BRENHAM POLICE, HOMELAND SECURITY MAKE ARREST IN CHILD EXPLOITATION INVESTIGATION

  

A child exploitation investigation involving multiple agencies led to the arrest of a Brenham man on Tuesday on a charge of child pornography possession.

According to a release from the Brenham Police Department, detectives from the Brenham Police Criminal Investigations Division, working with Homeland Security Investigations, executed search and arrest warrants at approximately 8:45 a.m. in the 1000 block of Thiel Street.

Police say the warrants stemmed from a joint investigation into allegations that an individual accessed child sexual abuse material from the internet.  The Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol assisted with the operation, which concluded without incident and with the arrest of 31-year-old Victor Manuel Donate Jr.

Donate has been charged with Possession of Child Pornography More than 50 Visual Depictions, a first degree felony.  Online records for the Washington County Jail show his bond was set at $500,000.

Detectives also reportedly seized multiple digital devices for forensic analysis.  Investigation is ongoing.

Brenham Police Chief Gary Boshears said, “Those who exploit children should expect a determined response from this department.  Our detectives will pursue these investigations aggressively, and our partnerships with HSI and other agencies give us the resources to identify offenders, protect children, and bring cases forward for prosecution.  I appreciate the work of everyone involved in this operation.”
