ROCKY AND YEGUA PARKS TO REMAINED CLOSED THROUGH SEPTEMBER

  

 Despite the Labor Day weekend quickly approaching, most of the parks at Lake Somerville remain closed until the end of September.

Yegua Creek and Rocky Creek Park will remain closed until September 30th. Those who had standing reservation are still able to receive refunds without penalty.

The boat ramps at the Somerville Marina and Welch Park are open.

The water levels, although receding about one foot every third day, continue to be above flood stage, currently 245.18 ft., according to the Emmitt Attaway,Lake of the Somerville Corp of Engineers. Normal level is at 238 ft. The water is currently being released at 2087 cubic feet per second.

The flood gates at the dam are currently open approximately 6 feet each.

The flooding from the May and Tropical Storm Bill in June, caused major flooding at many areas, including at Lake Somerville, is one of the worse ever, according to the lake engineers.

There are many road that sustained damage, and are still in the process of being repaired, along with the removal of debris from the flooding.
