ONE PERSON INJURED IN GLIDER PLANE ACCIDENT
The pilot of a glider plane is in the hospital after he crashed in a field in Waller County Sunday afternoon.
Sixty-seven-year old Thomas Ray Hazel crashed near Laneview Road and FM 1488 just after 1:30 pm. according to a spokesman with the Department of Public Safety.
A Life Flight helicopter airlifted Hazel to Memorial Hermann Hospital downtown. So far there's no word on his condition.
DPS said Hazel was a member of the Soaring Club of Houston, a gliders club based in Waller County just a few miles from the crash scene.
The FAA is investigating.
