AREA BALLOTS FEATURE CONTESTED RACES

  

A number of races are on the ballots in area counties in the March primaries.

In Grimes County, Sheriff Don Sowell faces challenger Shaw Sayers in the Republican race.

Also in the Republican primary, incumbent County Commissioner in Precinct-One, Chad Mallett faces challengers Janet Green and John Bertling.

Precinct-Three incumbent Barbara Walker faces Richard Pinon in the Democrats Primary, while Scott McDonald and Dorothy Holtkamp square off in the Republican race.

And, in Precinct-Four, Incumbent Republican Gary Husfeld faces the challenge of Al Ripper.

In Austin County, Tax Assessor-Collector Marcus Pena faces challenger Kim Rinn in the Republican Primary.

In the County Commissioners’ race in Precinct-One incumbent Reese Turner faces two Republican opponents in March: Allen Kaminski and Mark Lamp.

Precinct-Four Constable James Clark is being opposed by fellow Republican Matt McArthur.

In Burleson County, Sheriff Dale Stroud did not file for re-election. Two Republicans filed for the office: former Caldwell police chief Thomas Norsworthy, and former police chief in Somerville, Richard Terral.

The Republican nomination for County Commissioner Precinct-One is between Joe Baldwin Jr. and Mike Weichert Jr.

The Precinct-Four Republican race for Constable is between Jason Muzny and Peter Glidewell.

In Fayette County, incumbent Tax Assessor-Collector Rosalinda Adamcik faces Brenda Fietsam in the Republican Primary.

Four Republicans are running for Precinct-Three Justice of the Peace: Charles Zapalac, Ed Hulsey, Havard Macik and Terri Steinhuser Hefner.

The only contested race in Lee County is in the race for Sheriff, where incumbent Rodney Meyer  faces challenger Nathan Lapham in the Republican primary.

In Waller County, Sheriff R. Glenn Smith takes on Terry Hall in the Republican Primary.

In the Republican race for County Commissioner Precinct-One, incumbent John A. Amsler faces challengers Brian Becvar and Brian Nichols.

The Democrats race in Precinct Three features: incumbent Jeron Barnett, Brian Rowland, Darryl Johnson and Maduforo Eze.

In the Democrats’ race for Constable Precinct-Three, incumbent Herschel Smith faces two challengers: Duke A. Shariff-bey and John Murphy.

March first is Primary Election Day.  Tuesday, Feburary 16th is the first day of early voting.
