STATE REP. JOHN RANEY DRAWS OPPONENT FOR MARCH PRIMARY

A number of contested races highlight the ballot for the March first primaries in Brazos County.

Among those drawing an opponent in the Republican Primary is incumbent District 14 State Representative John Raney.  Raney will face challenger Jess Fields in the primary.

Raney received notoriety earlier this year when he proposed legislation that would have taken funding from Blinn’s Brenham campus and applied it to the Bryan campus.

House Bill – 1903 was overwhelmingly defeated, 92-42 on the House floor.

Meanwhile, District-12 State Representative Kyle Kacal will face two Republican opponents in March, Michael Stanford and Timothy Delasandro.

Sheriff Chris Kirk will face challenger Miguel Vasquez in the Republican Primary.

Two County Commissioner seats will be contended in Brazos County: Precinct-One incumbent Lloyd Wassermann faces College Station Councilman Steve Aldrich; while the Precinct-Three Commissioners race will pit outgoing College Station Mayor Nancy Berry against businessman Gabriel Garcia.
