REGISTRATION VIOLATIONS LEAD TO DRUG ARRESTS IN FAYETTE COUNTY

Two persons have been arrested on drug charges during traffic stops in Fayette County this past weekend.

38 year old Douglas Walker of Baytown was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. Deputy Michael Otten stopped Walker on SH 71 near Ellinger for a registration violation. After a voluntary consent to search the truck marijuana and paraphernalia were found in a “pringles” can.

Later during the weekend, 29 year old Matthew Stewart Kusey of Alleyton was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Otten pulled Kusey over in the Schulenburg area of I-10 and US Highway 77 for a registration violation and noticed that the male and female in the truck had been arguing as they each were covered with food that had been thrown inside the truck. After noticing that the registration on the truck was actually issued to a 1996 Isuzu, the parties were separated but the male was being uncooperative and later taken into custody for displaying the wrong registration.

A search incident to arrest revealed the male subject was in possession of a substance later identified as methamphetamine.
