JUNIOR AND SENIOR MAIFEST ROYALTY COMBINE FOR PARADE

  

The celebrations for the 126th Maifest are in full swing and are continuing today, beginning with the Brenham Maifest parade this morning (Saturday).

This year’s parade will be a combined parade with both Junior and Senior Maifest Royalty at 10:30am. KWHI will have live coverage of the parade beginning at 10:00am.

2016 Maifest RoyalityThe 2016 Junior Maifest Queen reigning over the Junior Court of “TV Land” is Ellie Van Dyke, daughter of Christy and Jarvis Van Dyke. 2016 Junior Maifest King is Austin Cone, son of Meg and David Cone.

2016 Senior Queens, Hannah Damon, daughter of Donna and Jeff Damon, and Madison Tomachefsky, daughter of Stephanie and Justin Tomachefsky will reign over “It’s Our World…What’s Your Story” with Senior King Colson Altman, son of Sabrina and Michael Altman. The Senior Maifest Coronation will take place on Fireman’s Field from 7:00pm to 9:00pm this evening (Saturday).

For the parade there will be children riding the floats dressed in costume to coordinate with this year’s court themes. The volunteer fire departments from Washington County will be in support of Maifest as they drive their fire trucks in the parade, as well as the Shriners, local officials, as well as the high school and college marching bands.

Continuing with the day’s celebration after the parade, the Mighty Thomas Carnival will open at 11:00am and the festival will open at noon with food, arts, crafts, rides, and activities until midnight.

The Brenham Noon Lions Club will be selling all-you-can-eat Blue Bell ice cream wristbands for $6. Individual servings of Blue Bell can also be purchased for $2 with up to 16 flavors to choose from between noon and 11:00pm this evening (Saturday). The proceeds raised by the Brenham Noon Lions Club will support local charities, including eyeglasses for children and Mission Brenham.

The Zythological Society will also be hosting a new beer tasting event from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the American Legion Hall at Fireman’s Park. Glasses can be purchased for $40 which will allow you try 24 different beers from 12 Texas Craft Breweries.

Musical entertainment will take place all day long on Fireman’s Park Main Stage featuring the Round Top Brass Band, Off the Grid Band, Abigail Taylor Band, Austin Meade, Wesley Westbrook Band, and ending the evening will be the Will Carter Band closing out the night at 10:30pm.
