LOBOS LOCATES MARIJUANA HIDDEN IN FUEL TANK

Fayette County K9 Lobos has located another hidden stash of marihuana in a vehicle traveling on Interstate 10.
Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that this (Monday) morning around 10 am, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Canine Unit, Sgt. Randy Thumann and K9 partner Lobos, stopped a Ford F-150 on Interstate 10 for a traffic violation.
During the road side interview, Sgt. Thumann identified several indicators that the driver was possibly trafficking illegal narcotics. Consent to search the vehicle was given and Lobos was deployed to conduct an exterior sweep of the vehicle. Sgt. Thumann observed Lobos alert to the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle’s auxiliary fuel tank. Sgt. Thumann accessed the compartment and observed 11 wrapped bundles of marihuana which weighed approximately 109 pounds, with an approximate street value of $50,000.
Arrested and charged with felony Possession of marijuana was Arturo Pena (35) of Zapata Texas, who was transported to the Fayette County Jail.
