BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO CONSIDER PURCHASE OF POLICE VEHICLES

  

The Brenham City Council will consider approving the purchase of six new vehicles for the Brenham Police Department during their meeting on Thursday.

The police department is seeking the Mayor and Council’s approval to order the approved budgeted police vehicles. The department rotates older (high mileage and worn) vehicles from time to time for replacement to equip the patrol, investigative, and administrative divisions. In order to maintain the current service level with fleet, the department is requesting to purchase three patrol and three administrative vehicles this year. The total for the three marked and three administrative vehicles is $217,328. All six vehicles will be purchased off the state contract.

The Brenham City Council will also consider and possibly take action on a resolution nominating Valmont Industries as an Enterprise Project to the State of Texas.

The Texas Enterprise Zone Program is an economic development tool for local communities to partner with the State of Texas to promote job creation and significant private investment that will assist economically distressed areas of the state. Approved projects are eligible to apply for state sales and use tax refunds on qualified expenditures. In order for the application to be submitted, the City is required to consider the resolution nominating Valmont Industries for the State of Texas Enterprise Zone program.

The Brenham City Council will meet on Thursday at 1 p.m. in the second floor council chambers of City Hall.
