BRENHAM POLICE OFFICER HONORED AS “HERO OF THE HIGHWAY”

  

A Brenham Police Officer has been chosen as a “Hero of the Highway” for the third year in a row.

During the “Mothers against Drunk Driving” annual luncheon on Tuesday, Cpl. Steven Eilert was recognized as a “Hero of the Highway.”

The luncheon is held every year to honor outstanding law enforcement for their efforts to end drunk driving. The recognition ceremony, held in Wellborn, commended 22 officers and their supervisors for excelling in DWI enforcement this year. Sgt. Justin Schiller, Eilert’s supervisor, said even though Eilert had been on light duty for several months, he still issued the most DWIs for the Brenham Police Department.

Brenham Police Chief Craig Goodman released a statement saying, “Corporal Steven Eilert has been with the Brenham Police Department for 6 years and has always strived to curtail the consequences of those who operate motor vehicles while intoxicated. His dedication to DWI enforcement is second to none and for the past three years Corporal Eilert has been recognized by M.A.D.D. for his efforts. I am very proud of Corporal Eilert and recognize how valuable his skills are to this organization.”
