BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL NOMINATES VALMONT INDUSTRIES FOR STATE ENTERPRISE PROJECT
The Brenham City Council approved a resolution to nominate Valmont Industries’ galvanizing facility as a state enterprise project during their meeting today (Thursday).
The Texas Enterprise Zone Program is an economic development tool for local communities to partner with the State of Texas to promote job creation.
Participation in the Texas Enterprise Zone Program is possible because of Valmont Industries’ expansion of their Coatings Division at the Brenham facility. Valmont Industries is converting a building that used to house their utilities operations into a galvanizing facility. The approved project will now be eligible to apply for state sales and use tax refunds on qualified expenditures. The program will not affect local sales taxes.
In other business, the city council approved the purchase of six vehicles for the Brenham Police Department. The total for the three marked and three administrative vehicles is $217,328. All six vehicles were budgeted and will be purchased off the state contract.
