LETTER SCAM CIRCULATING AROUND FAYETTE COUNTY
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is warning citizens of a scam going around the community this holiday season. 
A letter is being mailed to residents saying that they have won a prize in the Home Phone Mega Sweepstakes Raffle. The letter says the recipient has won $250 million. However, instructions are then given to send $3,000 check for tax and insurance handling fees. A fake check for $3,564 is included to “assist” the recipient.
Sheriff Korenek says citizens can always contact the Sheriff’s Office or local law enforcement if they have a question concerning a phone of mail scam.
