FORMER BURTON VOLLEYBALL COACH SENTENCED FOR IMPROPER RELATIONSHIP

  

The former head volleyball coach at Burton and Weimar High Schools was sentenced in a Colorado County courtroom today (Friday) after pleading guilty to having an improper relationship with a female student.

Megon LeStourgeon was sentenced to 20 days in jail and 10 years on probation. She will also have to pay a $1,000 fine and perform 400 hours of community service.

LeStourgeon, who coached and taught in Burton from 2009-to-2012 and Weimar from 2013-to-2015, entered the guilty plea back in December 2016.

According to authorities, the relationship occurred while LeStourgeon was coaching at Weimar.  She resigned just weeks before police there began investigating the allegations.

LeStourgeon will begin her 20 day jail sentence today.
