BRYAN WOMAN DIES IN MOTHER’S DAY CRASH
A 22-year-old Bryan woman died in a car accident on Mother’s Day, while passing motorists saved her 3-year-old daughter.
According to authorities, Isabel Marie Castillo was driving south on Harvey Mitchell Parkway near Texas 6 at approximately 8:30 a.m. Sunday. For an unknown reason, her car went off the road and hit a tree.
Passing motorists stopped to help but were unable to free Castillo from the car, which caught on fire.
The toddler was freed from the vehicle and taken to CHI St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan where she is said to be in stable condition.
Castillo was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say an investigation into the wreck is ongoing and an autopsy will be conducted.
