FOUR BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS SWORN INTO OFFICE

  

Four Brenham City Council members were sworn-in to office during their meeting today (Thursday).

Susan Cantey (Position Six at large), Charlie Pyle (Position Five at Large), Keith Herring (Position One), and Andrew Ebel (Position Three) were elected to the council after an uncontested race.

Cantey, a newcomer to the council, has served on numerous boards including the Trinity Hospital Foundation Board, Unity Theatre Board, Animal Friends of Washington County Board, and as Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce.

Pyle previously served on the City Council for 5 years beginning in 2006.

Both Herring and Ebel were reelected to their positions this year. Herring has served on the Council since December 2004. Ebel previously served on the council from 1992 to 2004, and then was elected again in 2007.

The council voted to elect Ebel as Mayor Pro Tem. Ebel will preside over city council meetings when the Mayor Milton Tate is unavailable.

While the council entered into executive session to discuss City Manager Terry Robert’s employment agreement, no action was taken on the discussion.

Also during the meeting:

The council approved a $208,697 bid from Triturn Enterprises for way finding signs. The project includes signs in the downtown area, parking areas, as well as the perimeter of the city. The signage is intended to promote tourist to visit the downtown district for shopping, dining, and entertainment.

A noise variance request was approved for Washington County Historical Juneteenth Association for a celebration at Fireman’s Park on June 16th and 17th.
