CHAMPION FELLOWSHIP TO TAKE OVER MISSION BRENHAM COMMUNITY MINISTRIES

In the wake of a financial crisis, Mission Brenham is handing over leadership of a number of community ministries to Champion Fellowship Church.

Mission Brenham previously announced they need to raise $50,000 by June 5th to continue the Jesus and Me (JAM) Academy.

Champion Fellowship Church of Brenham offered to lead the effort of saving JAM for this summer.

Billy Sutherland, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Bill Rankin, Dr. Walter Jackson, Superintendent of BISD, along with numerous others, have focused attention and efforts on meeting the needs of JAM2017 so that the Mission Brenham Board of Directors can focus on dealing with the current financial crisis.

“As much as we would love to give everyone details and information now about what has happened to Mission Brenham, we have been advised not to disclose information during what has become an ongoing criminal investigation” says Hope Batchman, President of the Mission Brenham Board of Directors.

The Champion Fellowship Church has also offered to take over leadership of the other two community ministries of Mission Brenham, the MBLA (Mission Brenham Leadership Academy) and FLU (MBLA 2: inFLUence).

“It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we must let these programs go, but we have all seen the hand of God at work in this ministry, and we know without a doubt that this work will continue to change the lives of young people in our community in significant and positive ways” says Batcham.  “I cannot thank this board enough for their selfless service to Mission Brenham’s mission of building the next generation of biblical leaders among the youth of our community.”

The current Board of Directors of Mission Brenham has been working for the past two weeks after being dealt a devastating financial blow that has left them unable to fund the annual summer JAM program.

“Our priority has been to make sure that JAM201 7 could and would still happen this summer” continued Batchman. “Now, because a special fundraising effort that has already produced wonderful results, we are hopeful and encouraged that it will happen.”

Donations to help with the JAM Academy fundraiser can be mailed or taken to Champion Fellowship, 1801 S. Market St., Brenham. Checks should be made out to "JAM 2017".
