CITY MANAGER TERRY ROBERTS LENDS SOME CLARIFICATION TO CITY’S AGENDA
The City Council for Brenham will meet again this Thursday to discuss the continued issue over parking for the proposed Neighborhood Business District.
The item was tabled at the last council meeting 2 weeks ago.
City Manager Terry Roberts explains the difference in the two options that are being brought by Erik Smith of the Development Services department.
The first option addresses removing the parking option until a later date, meaning the fees are simply waived until they begin later.
The second would be to postpone the fees until the City has a parcel for the landowners to pay into, at which point anyone within the district would owe the agreed upon fees for.
Roberts added that while there were public members who took issue with the way the parking proposal had been structured in the proposal, the solutions were not the required way to handle the public’s complaints.
He even suggest that if they wanted to, the Ordinance would allow Council to begin collecting the fees at any time, and put them away into a fund specifically designated for parking.
Roberts added that there were City Council members who took issue with the proposal as well. He stated there were council members who were unwilling to start the fees until they had secured a piece of property for property owners in the area to pay towards for parking.
The Council will meet again Thursday at 1:00pm on the second floor of City Hall.
