EARLY MORNING ACCIDENTS SHUTS DOWN HIGHWAY SIX

  

Highway 6 near Hearne was backed up for several hours early this (Friday) morning following an accident involving an 18-wheeler.

Officials closed down a large part of Highway 6 near Hearne, after a woman drifted into oncoming traffic just before midnight Thursday and slammed into the semi.

The outside, southbound lane remained closed until around 3 a.m. Friday as crews worked to remove the truck.

According to authorities, a small child and mother were trapped in the car that collided with the 18-wheeler.  They were both taken to the hospital. The child is expected to be okay, but the mother's condition is unknown at this time.

The driver of the semi was not hurt.
