CITY TO DISCUSS BUDGET NEXT WEEK
The Brenham City Council has scheduled a series of budget workshops for next week.

Among the items to be discusses will be the possible issuance of debt to help pay for flood damage repairs.
According to City Manager Terry Roberts, the council will discuss over six-million-dollars in needed repairs due to the May 2016 flooding.
Roberts says they are all “long term capital projects” and the city would have to pay the money for the repairs up front—then be reimbursed for up to 75-percent by FEMA.
Roberts says the city has some available “debt capacity” to fund its share of the repairs.
He goes on to say the city could have some added revenue—which would include an upturn in property tax rolls and an increase in sales tax rebates.
Roberts says the specifics will be discussed during the workshops.
The city council will be holding budget workshops next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, beginning each day at 8:30 at City Hall on West Vulcan St.
