BURTON TRUSTEES REVIEW CAMPUS AND DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT REPORTS
The Burton School Board met at their regular monthly meeting Monday evening. Trustees reviewed and approved a number of reports including the Elementary Campus, the Secondary Campus and the District Improvement Plans. The plans detail areas that the schools look to improve upon during the school year and are available online at burtonisd.net.
Superintendent Edna Kennedy noted that enrollment in the Burton Schools now stands at 459 students. She also announced the GeoSouthern Energy has made an inquiry to the district about leasing a portion of the district property for oil and gas. Dr. Kennedy explained that the lease would have to go out for bids, but that it sounded promising.
Trustees also approved requesting waiver days for two days that the school was closed during Hurricane Harvey. Both Burton and Brenham Schools were closed August 28th and 29th because of the number of roads closed due to flooding in the county.
The next Burton School Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 16th.
