SAN MARCOS OFFICER SHOT AND KILLED
A San Marcos police officer was shot and killed while serving a warrant Monday afternoon.
58-year old Officer Kenneth Copeland was taken to Central Texas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly before 4:00 p.m.
The suspect, whose name hasn’t been released, was shot and wounded during a standoff with the San Marcos/Hays County SWAT team. He was taken to an Austin hospital where his condition is not known.
Governor Greg Abbot expressed sympathy to Copeland’s family and vowed swift justice for the shooter.
