CHAPPELL HILL CHURCH HOSTS POLISH CELEBRATION

A Chappell Hill church will be celebrating its Polish heritage this weekend, with the celebration of a centuries-old tradition.

St. Stanislaus Catholic Church will be hosting Polskie Koledy, Saturday at 11 a.m.

Festivities will begin on the steps of the church, including singing and traveling to several homes throughout Chappell Hill, with carols food.

There will be a cemetery vigil at dusk and a pot luck supper.

There will be a delegation from Poland on hand.  “Majeranki” is a musical high school group that will join the participants as they travel throughout town.

They will also present a concert at 4 p.m. at the Chappell Hill Museum and 6 p.m. at the church.

Local organizer, Jim Mazurkiewicz, says the event grows each year and has helped to unite the Polish community around the state of Texas.

Mazurkiewicz says he’s seen people of Polish descent come from all over Texas to participate.
