ROBERTS: CITY NOT LIMITING PET CENTER VOLUNTEERS

Brenham city officials say they don’t plan limit volunteers at the pet adoption center.

City Manager Terry Roberts

Last week the city announced reduced hours over the next several weeks for staff training, and that volunteers would not be needed for that period of time.

The city also announced they would be developing a new volunteer program.

Outgoing City Manager Terry Roberts says he doesn’t believe the city is looking to limit its volunteers.

The city has contracted with a consulting firm to make recommendations about the center’s operations.  Roberts says they want to look at their policies and procedures to have an effective volunteer program,

Roberts says consultant Tim Crum has been to Brenham for an evaluation, and is coming back in early January to deal with the volunteer program, policies and procedures.

The city is currently taking applications for a new animal services manager.

The city has been reviewing shelter and adoption operations after numerous complaints.

The center is currently open from 10 a.m.-to-2 p.m,. Wednesdays through Saturdays thru January 16th.

  1. Why are they there if we have to hire someone to tell us what to do? If they can’t manage a pet adoption center how the heck are they managing this city? Over payed and under qualified city officials sad sad sad.

  2. Texan – it’s absolutely been the same small group of people with lots of money who think they can run this town – and apparently they are right! Small town politics, aren’t they great.

  3. What a JOKE! Let’s just contract that firm to contract another firm too see if they agree on the volunteer work and complaints!
I sure hope we don’t fire all the over payed staff because we might need to contract a firm to fill out the paper work… Let’s get the volunteers to volunteer to hire another volunteer to walk the trash out for free!!!! Only in Brenham Tx.

  4. “The city has contracted with a consulting firm to make recommendations about the center’s operations. What is the purpose of all the city managers if problem solving is always paid for with tax dollars….?

  5. Numerous complaints? How many? From how many people? Is it just one or two people complaining over and over, or are there widespread problems?
