HANAK: IT TAKES A SPECIAL PERSON TO BE A JAIL NURSE

The search continues for a new nurse for the Washington County Jail.
Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak says anyone interested in the position is urged to contact the sheriff’s office at (979) 277-6255 or fill out an employment application on the office’s website.
Hanak says it takes a very special person who understands and has a specific knowledge of prison medicine. He says there are a lot of very good, competent nurses who could not fill the position, based on unique and special circumstances they must deal with inside the jail.
Hanak says anyone selected for the post must be certified to work with inmates and must pass an extensive background check. He says anyone with questions about the requirements and duties of the position can contact his office.
Hanak says Dr. Stuart Yoffe, the longtime jail physician, abruptly tendered his resignation, December 17th. County Commissioners are expected to approve the move at their meeting, tomorrow (Tuesday).
A general application for all employment positions in the Sheriff’s office and county jail can be found on the department website: www.washingtoncosheriff.org
