BRENHAM’S INTERIM POLICE CHIEF SWORN IN

Brenham’s interim Police Chief was sworn in Tuesday afternoon by Judge Bill Kendall.  Rusty Pancoast will serve on an interim basis until a permanent Police Chief is selected.  Brenham Police Chief Craig Goodman abruptly resigned last Thursday citing personal reasons.

Chief Pancoast has been in the law enforcement profession since the mid 1970’s including 12 years with the Lower Colorado River Authority retiring in 2008 as their Director of Public Safety. Pancoast also served as Chief of Police for the City of Bee Cave near Austin for six and one-half years before retiring from that position to Kerrville in September 2014.  While serving in Bee Cave, Pancoast got to know James Fisher who was the City Administrator at the time.  Fisher will take office as Brenham’s new City Manager next Thursday.  Fisher is taking over for City Manager Terry Roberts who is retiring after 17 years with the city.

Roberts say the search for a new Police Chief has already begun and will be handled “in house” as the previous searches have been.

Rusty Pancoast is sworn in by Judge Bill Kendall Tuesday.
