CANDIDATE FOR A&M STUDENT BODY PRESIDENT IN HOT WATER
A candidate for Texas A&M University's student body president is apologizing after a five-year old Instagram photo with a racist caption surfaced.
Junior Ben Johnson of Houston, deleted the photo, which included a photo of a traffic accident and degrading language about Asian-Americans and profanity.
In a Facebook comment, Johnson said he was in high school when he posted the picture and then pledged to advocate for groups of people that—in his words, “haven't had the same opportunities that I've been afforded."
Johnson wrote in a Facebook comment that he was not making any excuses and agreed that what he said was morally reprehensible.
