FUNDING SECURED FOR KREISCHE BREWERY RENOVATION
State Senator Lois W. Kolkhorst has announced the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department will be conducting renovations to the interior and exterior of the Monument Hill Historic House and Kreische Brewery in Fayette County.
Kolkhorst said the state funds will be used for water damage repairs and renovation to the cedar shake roof, structural elements, woodwork, floors, windows, stone work, historic furniture, and landscaping to protect the structures during flooding.
Kolkhorst says the sites are state treasures, and is pleased to see that funding could be secured to begin the task of preserving and protecting these sites for future generations.
Kolkhorst says it’s is a special place for families, tourists and students and hopes that more funding can be secured in the years ahead to continue with more renovations.
The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department has directed $432,000 in current budget funds to replace the roof and make other repairs.
The department will then be seeking more appropriations in the next legislative session with the help of Senator Kolkhorst to complete the renovation project.
Over the past years the ground is trying to take in back. Its a neat place that people have forgotten and others have found to be very interesting. Just be careful in the spring we spotted 3 snakes on a visit there a year ago.
