CUBETTES PICK UP WIN ON SCHROEDER’S WALK-OFF TRIPLE
The Brenham Cubettes rallied for four runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to defeat Tomball Memorial, Tuesday night, 7-6.
The Cubettes (11-6/2-0) trailed 6-3 entering the final stanza.
Savannah Bartay and Kramer Eschete got the rally started with back-to-back singles. Amanda Almaraz doubled home Bartay, cutting the Memorial lead to 6-4.
Kat Marshall then tied the ball game with a two-run single, chasing home Eschete and Almaraz.
Schroeder then ripped a shot to the fence in left, as Marshall raced around the bases with the winning run.
Kaitlin Whitehead got the scoring started for the Cubettes in the 2nd inning. She tripled to drive in Haley Santleben, running for Amanda Little who had walked. Whitehead then scored on a squeeze bunt single by Karleigh Flisowski.
Marahall finished the night 2-for-4 with 3 rbi's. Almaraz was 2-for-3 with a run and rbi, Eschete was 3-4 with a run, Whitehead was 1 for 3 with a triple, an rbi and a run scored, Flisowski was 1 for 3 with an rbi, Schroeder was 1 for 4 with an rbi, Bartay was 1 for 3 with a run scored, and McGee Eschete was 1 for 3 with a run scored.
Amanda Little picked up the win after starting the game, then being lifted for reliever Karleigh Flisowski. Little then returned to the circle to get the final outs in the top of the seventh.
The Cubettes will host Waller, also 2-0 in district play, Friday night at 7:00 at Alumni Field. The game can be heard on KWHI and www.kwhi.com.
