BECKY’S NEW CAR COMING TO UNITY THEATRE IN APRIL
Have you ever been tempted to flee your own life? The latest play at Unity Theatre in Brenham will take you down that road. Becky’s New Car by Steven Dietz is coming to Unity Theatre April 19th through May 6th. In the play, Becky Foster is caught in middle age, middle management and in a middling marriage - with no prospects for change on the horizon. Then one night, a socially inept and grief-stricken millionaire, stumbles into the car dealership where Becky works. Becky is offered nothing short of a new life and the audience is offered a chance to ride shotgun.
The production will be led by Julia Traber, who returns to Unity Theatre to direct this quirky and thought-provoking piece. Traber has directed many shows at Unity including Doubt, The Miss Firecracker Contest, and Greater Tuna.
Becky’s New Car is part of the Main Stage series, and runs for three weekends at Unity Theatre. It previews on Thursday, April 19th, opens on Friday, April 20th and plays Thursdays through Sundays, closing on May 6th. Performances are Thursdays at 7:30 pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm, and Sundays at 4:00 pm. Reserved tickets are $27. There are $19 tickets available for Preview on April 19th, student tickets are always $15, and all unsold seats are $15 at 15 minutes prior to any performance. A talk-back, an opportunity to meet with the cast and crew, immediately follows the Preview performance, and a Director’s Chat will take place prior to the show on the evening of Saturday, April 28th.
