BURTON CITY COUNCIL HAS QUICK MEETING MONDAY

  

The Burton City Council made quick work of a short agenda during their meeting Monday evening.

The Council approved hiring BEFCO Engineering of LaGrange to complete the engineering plans for the Corrosion Control of Infrastucture.  The firm will produce the documents required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality relating to the presents lead found in several samples of Burton municipal water last year.  Dustin Lozano with Burton Utilities told council that the chemical that TCEQ has recommended treating the water supply with is now in the system at the recommended level.  He said the next round of water testing is scheduled for May.

Burton City Council approved the appointment of Justice of the Peace Bill Kendall to act as the visiting Judge for an upcoming trial in which Municipal Court Judge Angela Weyand has recused herself.  The trial is scheduled for May 14th and is the first trial in Burton Municipal Court that anyone can remember.  Council also re-appointed Angela Weyand to serve as Municipal Court Judge for another year.

The Burton City Council also approved the closing of Live Oak Street between Main and Railroad Streets for the Flown the Coop event on April 21st.  The street is expected to be closed from noon until midnight on that day.
