COUNTY CLERK REMINDS VOTERS THERE ARE TWO PRIMARY RUNOFF ELECTIONS

Washington County Clerk Beth Rothermel wants to remind voters that there are two Primary Runoff Elections taking place in Washington County….one for the Republican Party and one for the Democrat Party.

Rothermel says there has been some confusion when Republicans see Democrats in line in front of them during early voting.  She say there are two runoff races on the Democrat ballot, one for Governor and one for U.S. Representative.  70 year old Lupe Valdez, a former Dallas County Sheriff, is running against 45 year old Andrew White for Governor.  White, a businessman, is the son of the late Governor Mark White.  The winner of that race will face Republican Governor Greg Abbott in the November General Election.

In the Democrat Party Primary Runoff Election for Congressional District 10, 40 year old Mike Siegel, an Assistant City Attorney in Austin, faces 45 year old registered nurse Tawana Walter-Cadien.  Cadien has previously run as the Democrat candidate for U.S. Representative.  The winner will face Republican Congressman Michael McCaul in the November General Election.
