NO ONE INJURED WHEN LIGHTNING STRIKES TANK NEAR BURTON
No one was injured when lightning struck a salt water tank near Burton.
During the storms that swept through the area late Wednesday afternoon, lighting struck the tank off Sandstone Road near Hudgen Hill Lane.
According to Burton Fire Chief Ronny Stanley, the strike blew the top off the tank and ignited the residual oil inside.
Stanley says the fire presented no immediate danger to anyone in the area, so the fire was allowed to burn itself out.
The owners of the well, Intervest arrived at the scene, blocked the well and extinguished what was left of the fire.
Sandstone Road was shut down until authorities deemed it safe.
