BLINN PROFESSOR HONORED BY HIGH SCHOOL ALMA MATER

A Blinn College professor has been recognized by her alma mater.
Education Professor Essie Childers was honored by the Longview Independent School District for her professional excellence and dedication to community service.
Childers was honored as a 2018 Longview Distinguished Alumni during a recent ceremony in Longview. The event included a commemorative brick presentation near the entrance of the school district’s football stadium.
An educator of 31 years, Childers is a graduate of Abilene Christian University and the University of Texas at Tyler. She is the immediate past president of the Texas Community College Teachers Association, and was named the 2017 Carol Dochen Developmental Educator of the Year. Childers is also the winner of the 2014 College Reading and Learning Association’s Distinguished Teaching Award, the 2014 Blinn Professional Association Outstanding Service Award, and the 2013 On Course Ambassador of the Year Award.
Childers serves on Blinn’s Quality Enhancement Plan Development Team and was one of the first graduates of the College’s FutureWorks Academy.
