BIG RIG HAULING FLAMING HAY BALES STOPPED ON HIGHWAY 77
An 18-wheeler hauling bales of hay was forced to pull over on Highway 77 in Fayette County this (Tuesday) afternoon, due to several of the bales being on fire.
Fayette County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call Tuesday afternoon around 12:45 p.m., reporting the 18-wheeler travelling with engulfed hay bales on Highway 77 Northbound, just past FM 153 near La Grange.
Precinct One Constable Billy Roensch got the 18-wheeler pulled over, and Deputies Darrell Maze and Sergeant Charles Jobb controlled traffic. It was reported that the trailer was hauling 36 round hay bales, with several on fire.

he La Grange Fire Department requested assistance from the Winchester Fire Department at the scene. Fayette County EMS also responded to the scene to provide rehab for the firefighters because of the heat. TxDOT assisted with the shutdown of the highway—which lasted a little more than an hour—until the fire was under control.
