NEW SEASON OF ACTS FOR BLINN-BRENHAM THEATRE ARTS
Blinn’s Brenham Theatre Arts Program has unveiled its list of acts for the 2018-19 season.
This season’s theme is “Tall and Twisted Tales,” featuring tall tales with unique twists. Theatre Director Brad Nies says each of the plays this season are different from anything the program has done before.
The season starts with a performance of Robert Kauzlaric’s “The Island of Dr. Moreau,” based on the book from H.G. Wells. Nies says this will be the first scary play done for the faculty showcase. The play will open October 11-14, with performance times at 7 p.m. from the 11th to 13th, and a 2 p.m. play on the 14th. There will also be high school preview performances at 1 p.m. on the 11th and 12th.
Roald Dahl’s “Jack and the Beanstalk” is slated for 7 p.m. performances from November 15-17, with a 2 p.m. show on November 18th. Elementary school preview performances will be held at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on the 15th and 16th.
In February of 2019, Blinn will present “Peter and Alice” by John Logan. Show times begin at 7 p.m. from February 14-16, and 2 p.m. on February 17th.
The final performance of the season will be the Blinn College 10-Minute Play Festival, including original plays from local high school students, and directed and performed by Blinn theatre arts majors. This performance will take place at 7 p.m. April 4-6, and 2 p.m. on April 7th.
In addition to these performances, Blinn’s Delta Psi Omega chapters and the U.S. Institute for Theatre Technology will present “Slaphappy” at 7 p.m. on October 18th, and March 28, 2019. The improvisation program is a mix between Jerry Seinfeld, Comedy Sportz Houston, and William Shakespeare. Both events are free of charge.
All shows will take place at the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center. Tickets for all shows are $10 for adults and $5 for students, children, and senior citizens. Blinn students, faculty and staff will receive free tickets with the code “staffcomp”.
