MT. ROSE KICKS OFF 150TH ANNIVERSARY WITH HIP HOP GOSPEL FEST

Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church is celebrating its 150th anniversary with a street concert tonight (Wednesday).
From 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., the “Hip Hop Gospel Street Fest” will take over 204 Kerr Street, across from the Brenham Early Childhood Learning Center.
Several performers are featured in tonight’s concert, including Hollywood actor Curtis Von, psalmist Tamesha Pruett, and rapper Var G. The Youth Choirs of Mount Rose and New Beginnings churches will also take part in the festivities.

Event coordinator Reverend Randy Wells says Deacon Cecil Webster came to him and asked him to set up an event for the church’s anniversary.
The church wanted to get the youth and college students of the community involved in the celebration, and Rev. Wells thought this concert would a great way to do just that.
There will be free hot dogs, chips and drinks served, as well as several giveaways. In case of rain, the concert will be held in the church sanctuary.
