BLINN HOLDING SECOND PUBLIC HEARING ON TAX RATE THURSDAY

  

The Blinn Board of Trustees will meet Thursday evening for its second of two public hearings on the 2018 tax rate.

The board is planning to maintain its tax rate of $0.0601 per $100 valuation.  The rate is the same as the past three years, but will draw $25,648 more in tax revenue compared to last year because of higher property values.  The Blinn College District expects over $1,973,274 in tax revenue for the Brenham campus.

The rate, which will cost the average Washington County homeowner $9.23 a month, is the lowest out of the 50 community college districts in Texas.  The average Texas community college property tax rate is $0.1805.

The public hearing will be Thursday at 6 p.m., at the Brenham Campus Administration Building on 802 Green Street.  The rate will be adopted on Tuesday, September 18 at 6 p.m.
